Network Integration

The TeleWare platform supports multiple protocols for integration into mixed and/or multi vendor telephony environments.

The supported protocols are:

  • Switched Telephony
    • DPNSS
    • QSIG
    • DASS
    • Q931
    • SS7 (ISUP)
  • IP Telephony
    • SIP
    • H.323/H.450

These open protocols enable interoperability with most industry leading switch manufacturers equipment and TeleWare operates a policy of integration testing with leading vendors solutions from our test labs in the UK. Even though we have tested the equipment listed below, the list is by no means exhaustive and any switch supporting one of the above protocols should be capable of integrating with TeleWare, subject to the appropriate tests and tuning for vendor specific functions.

TeleWare favors the use of DPNSS for integration with TDM networks as an "edge of network" service. DPNSS provides a high degree of functionality with the network including:

  • Network MWI
  • Route Optimisation
  • Calling Line ID
  • Text Display
  • Diversion Override

The "edge of network" concept using DPNSS also provides an ideal demarcation point between the platform and the Operator's network.

Integration with an existing IP Centrex network would be achieved using the inherent SIP capability of the platform and Aculab IP Telephony cards. Whilst SIP is an open standard, testing would be required with The operator's IP Centrex network to ensure compatibility and interoperability.

The TeleWare platform is also able to operate as an IP softswitch, facilitating the direct connection of either SIP or H.323 terminals/softphones. Combined with our inherent salability and availability this functionality can be exploited to deliver a fully functional IP Centrex service, including advanced applications from the same platform.

Because of our simultaneous support for IP and Switched protocols, the platform will provide both a common applications platform in a converged environment and a gateway service between networks for interworking between SIP, E1 protocols and H.323. The result is a consistent user experience, irrespective of infrastructure.
